At first I was dubious. Science fiction wasn't really the genre for me, but i decided to give 1984 a try. This novel had so many compelling ideas and themes and Orwell skilfully weaves the ideas into sometimes unbearably long paragraphs. Some parts of the novel just didn't do for me. The ending wasn't expected and part III was a killer. Overall, i believe this is the novel that took me the longest to read.
This book is about Tilo who's a Indian woman who has powers that knows about all spices and which spices to give her customers. Her spices have helped out her customers for a long time. She then travels to america where she falls in love with a man and has to decide whether to be with him or to run the spice shop. Tilo plans to help both but it's not easy. I liked this book because it's really unique and it's about spices added with romance which is pretty rare. Usually most books that deal with supernatural powers don't include food such as spices. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read because this is a good piece of literature that is read in most schools. It's interesting and it's probably one of the interesting books that involves India/America.
personally, I didn't expect the movie to be depicted as it was... but in the book, even as an adolescent, it still gave me the chills. haha. don't ever judge a book by its cover. :(
