the last 2 pages of this book should make you sob, unless you are a robot. and then i am sorry you are a robot. because robots cannot feel.
This was a blast. It is the first one that takes place largely on land which was still enjoyable. There's sailing stuff, spy stuff, hijinks, and great writing throughout. O'Brian is awfully punchy in this one: the book is loaded with puns an innuendo, situational irony, and double entendre. He's borderline into highbrow comedy at this point. Don't miss the cameo by Joshua Slocum, author of Sailing Alone Around the World
