This book is controversial because it shakes the not so solid foundations many have built under the contemporary understanding of Christianity. William Young states he does not view it as a theological argument -it is an exploration of what God can be, more than we can imagine, but stretching us beyond what most of us have imagined. Mr. Young's heart-choking metaphor made me want to quit the book. My closest confidant encouraged me to stay with it beyond page 100. How can there be redemption in this - how can I go on with the book? At times I was completely caught off guard, ambushed by an emotion I'd never experienced - touched, filled with, overwhelmed by... I don't know. But I do know no story has affected me like this one. To paraphrase CS Lewis - the hint of a flower never seen, the smell of a buffet never tasted. If I could have you read one book on my list, this would be it.
